Mrs. Hildebrand’s WHO I AM
You may have wondered, who is Mrs. Hildebrand. Well, I have many hats. I’m a mom, wife, teacher, reader, writer, and friend.
Most of you all know me as your teacher. I have been a teacher for 23 years, and I believe I was born to be an educator. My life goal is to make a difference in scholars’ lives. The funny thing is, I never knew I’d be a teacher. I had a plethora of ideas for careers that I think you’d be surprised to hear: a piano concertist, music therapist, French translator, CIA official, writer and lawyer were on my list. Luckily, I found my calling after graduating from college … to be a teacher.
Though teaching is one of my most important “hats,” my most important job is being a mom. I have three wonderful boys named Matthew (19), Jack (17) and Michael (11). I love being a boy-mom, as I get to be involved in their many interests, from football, to music, to film making, to flying an airplane. Their interests abound!
I was born in Louisiana, but when I was 9, I moved to New Mexico. I grew up and went to college at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico. When I graduated college, I moved to Guatemala and got married to my college sweetheart. I lived in Guatemala and taught at The American School for 20 years. I studied French in high school and college and lived in Paris for a month when I was 15. In addition to that, I have visited Mexico, El Salvador, Panama, and Costa Rica.
In my free time, I love to read, write, take pictures and enjoy art. I try to read at least one book a week. When I read I feel like I am in another world and I like that feeling! My favorite authors are Jane Austen, Lois Duncan and J.K. Rowling.
You can find me on Youtube and my classroom Instagram: www.instagram.com/mrshildebrand.
So, this is me in a nutshell. The mom, teacher and lover of art…but there’s so much more. In our future blog posts, I’m sure you will learn more about me. I cannot wait to learn about you!
